WHAT TO DO...

Do as much or as little as you feel like on any given day.

We (and many guests) often find ourselves settled in on the deck or down in "the chairs" and simply watch the moving mural of birds (eagles, osprey, cormorants, loons and a variety of gulls and songbirds), fishing boats going in and out of Head Harbour down the way, an occasional sailboat or yacht motoring by, the Grand Manan ferry doing its rounds in the distance, and splashes from schools of herring or mackerel or a visiting seal.

Many ambitious plans for the day have been waylaid by a pot of good coffee, a hint of woodsmoke on the crisp air, brilliant sunshine, and an unread book beckoning.

You may find it perfectly suitable to stay there all day, interrupted only by lunch and trips to the fridge. And that's OK. There's no schedule, everything is fluid and subject to the weather and the whims of the day. Throw your wristwatch and cell phone on the dresser and forget about them.

"Sunrise at Campobello"

There are occasions when a whale will wander into the channel by our house and pass by. For a closer look, We occasionally twist the arm of our good friend and neighbor Brian Flynn to take us out (close in) in his Boston Whaler.

For those more energetic, there's always a stroll to Head Harbour Light down the road (take the dogs, please!) or the other direction to Head Harbour wharf to check out the fishing boats.

Hike the trails of Roosevelt International Park on the southern end of the island or across at West Quoddy Head in Lubec.

Rockhound, hunt the beaches for sea glass, play golf, however the spirit moves you.

Take us, please! That's Kody, Callie and Cassie, all since passed over the Rainbow Bridge.
